Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California: Assistant/Associate Professor – Human Anatomy

The Department of Cell and Neurobiology invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the non-tenure Clinical Educator track. The position will begin July 1, 2016 or shortly thereafter. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., and/or equivalent degree, and have prior experience in teaching human gross anatomy to health professional students. The primary responsibility will be to fulfill the department’s obligation for continued excellence in teaching human anatomy in a dissection-based course with a clinical emphasis in an integrated medical curriculum. Ability to contribute to the teaching of related anatomical sciences is desirable but not required (e.g., neuroanatomy, embryology, or histology). The successful applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and the person selected is expected to make significant contributions to innovation in anatomical instruction and applying new communication and technology tools to best meet the needs of 21st Century students in mastering the anatomy relevant to their careers in medicine. Applicants must also have a strong commitment to continued research in some area of the anatomical sciences, and we are especially interested in productive scholars who focus on functional morphology, vertebrate evolution and/or biological anthropology. There are ample opportunities for collaboration with the department’s gross anatomists (Drs. Gene Albrecht, Michael Habib, Kristi Lewton, Thomas McNeill, Biren Patel, Mikel Snow, Michelle Winfield), as well as with basic sciences and clinical faculty throughout the Keck School of Medicine, the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, the Viterbi School of Engineering, the School of Cinematic Arts, and others.
