CSU Postdoc in Paleoanthropology
The Center for Paleoanthropological Research at Colorado State University, directed by Andrew Du, invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellow appointment, starting in the Spring semester of 2022. The candidate preferably should specialize in paleoanthropological research and will collaborate with the Principal Investigator on research in hominin paleoecology. The scope of potential research topics is broad and might include studying the spatiotemporal distribution of hominin taxa, how ecological patterns and processes change as a function of spatiotemporal scale, how ecological factors influenced hominin evolution, etc.
The position offers teaching experience, involving one undergraduate course per semester for each academic year, with courses to be determined based on candidate interests and departmental needs. The candidate will also be expected to provide ad hoc mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students and to involve them in research as much as possible.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in anthropology or a related field at the time of appointment (or PhD dissertation must be submitted by then).
- Demonstrated potential for teaching and research excellence in anthropology.
- Ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students or integrate them into one’s research.
- Demonstrated commitment to outreach and public communication of science.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in scientific research and education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research focus in hominin paleoecology or an adjacent field.
- Proficiency in R or another statistical coding language.
- Experience with teaching undergraduate students.
